Importance of hormone levels: Even when you're asymptomatic

Proactive vs Reactive data

Dear Friend,

Modern medicine is reactive.

You don’t feel well…get tests to determine the possible cause.

What gets missed is what your numbers look like when you’re young and healthy with no problems.

Why does it matter?

Example: 42 y/o female with poor sleep, low energy, and low libido

The cause could be hormonal among many other factors. Let’s assume her testosterone is low, but we have the benefit to compare her results from when she was in her 30s revealing the same testosterone level when she was asymptomatic.

Massively helpful data, her current problem is likely not testosterone related. Laser focus goes into other causes: Sleep, nutrition, fitness, and mental health.

Secondly, the levels during her 30s will become her target optimal levels in the future when HRT is initiated for bone health.

Potential Harms of Testing:

Some may argue the harm in early or frequent testing, which is real. In men, prostate specific antigen (PSA) is an example of this, used as a prostate cancer screening test. This test often has false positive elevations from inflammation or infection and an elevation in PSA can lead to a potentially risky prostate biopsy procedure.

The benefit of a baseline PSA earlier in life is to have more meaningful trends when prostate cancer becomes more likely. This is why we get baseline PSA levels on our clients at 40 years old.

Regarding the risk of false positives, with the proper support of a medical team, this can be safely navigated without a biopsy.

We recently launched EmpowerHer and EmpowerHim, both initially created to manage hormones. What they became is much more by utilizing our platinum level labs and uncovering otherwise unknown medical issues.

At BodyTimeMD, we take a tailored slow and steady approach and just because your hormones are abnormal, does not mean hormone treatment should be the first move. Hope this provides some insight, let’s talk if you are interested in finding out more about your body.
