Natural Longevity
Dear Friend,
Some have noticed a theme at BodyTimeMD or rather what has NOT yet been discussed in the newsletters.
NMN, Resveratrol, Rapamycin, peptides, testosterone, growth hormone, the list goes on. While we have strong opinions on all of these, our practice style is to first look for natural options.
Natural Longevity
Our goal is to maintain health without medications or surgery. We find that lifestyle choices impacts the lions share of both healthspan and lifespan, thus these need to be the priority.
That said, medications have their place and time: If diagnostics show a need for a medication, then they are initiated with urgency and precision. Similarly, if surgery is needed, then we will evaluate the best options around the country.
In terms of longevity molecules, we believe in a cautious early adopter approach. I have personally trialed NMN, Resveratrol, and Quercetin. But as research progresses, so does our stance. There is much to discuss on this topic and will be included in a future newsletter.
Let’s talk about one of our clients:
67M with a lifetime of slightly elevated cholesterol and Lp(a) who maintains exceptional health with fitness and nutrition. Prior to joining our practice, he was started on a statin by his primary care physician in response to a positive calcium score.
BTMD Results: CCTA negative for coronary disease
BTMD Plan: Discontinued the statin with plans to maintain coronary health with optimized fitness and nutrition. We will reassess the plan if his labs worsen or if lifestyle practices unexpectedly change from injury or illness.
Next time we will talk about exercise as a critical factor in preventing neurodegenerative disease.
At BodyTimeMD, we are constantly evaluating the various longevity molecules and maintain a fluid opinion on them. We will be quick to jump on a novel option if it fits our clients’ needs and goals, regardless we will commit to the hard work over the long-term. Let’s talk if you are interested in finding out more about your body.
