Sleep - Part 4
Dear Friend,
Some of our clients continue to have sleep issues despite maximizing sleep hygiene and technology. We’ve discussed the reasons why hypnotic sleep medications are a bad option, so what next?
Sleep Supplements:
Apigenin
Ashwaghanda
CBD
Glycine
Lavender
Melatonin
Magnesium L-Threonate
Phosphatidyl serine
Theanine
Valerian root
The list goes on and on. The above supplements are typically taken in combinations “sleep stacks”. Commercial products exist with clever branding to make taking them convenient. The challenge is inherent in the poorly regulated supplement industry: Quality and safety control.
Secondly, any supplement has its own dose, indications, contraindications, and side-effect profiles. The longevity podcasters all have their recommended sleep stacks.
Contraindications can include thyroid issues, arrhythmias, or hormonal impacts. The contraindications and side-effects become more complex when the supplements are taken in combination. All the reason that a physician’s guidance is needed to effectively and safely use them.
I have personally tried many combinations, most recently I’ve had good results with Glycine, Magtein, Apiginen, and Theanine.
Next time we will discuss hormonal fluctuations and their impacts on sleep disturbances.
Anything that goes into our body on a regular basis needs to be thoughtful. At BodyTimeMD, we carefully tailor the treatment on the individual. Hope this provides some insight, let’s talk if you are interested in finding out more about your body.

Ida’s son Logan. He’s the size of a toddler, but was a newborn in this pic taken July 2020.
Thanks,
